Before being called to the Bar, Paul appeared as a Solicitor-Advocate in District Court trials, sentences, fitness hearings and appeals. He also appeared in complex Local Court summary and committal hearings, sentences and bail applications. He has extensive experience in both serious State and Commonwealth criminal matters, including murder, large-scale drug importation and supply, fraud, violence and sexual assault offences.

He has a strong interest in coronial inquests, disciplinary proceedings, medical negligence, police misconduct matters and applications under Crimes (High Risk Offenders) Act 2006 and Terrorism (High Risk Offenders) Act 2017.

He is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin).
